Privacy Policy
The short version: PinX Golf stores all your data locally on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to us, no account is required, and we have no servers. Your golf stats are yours.
1. Who we are
PinX Golf is developed and operated by Donald van Pinxteren, based in the Netherlands. You can reach us at support@pinxgolf.com.
2. Data we collect — none
PinX Golf does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All data you enter into the app — rounds, scores, course information, preferences — is stored exclusively in a local database on your own iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework.
This means:
- We have no database of your golf stats
- We cannot access your data
- If you delete the app, your data is deleted with it (unless you have exported a backup)
- We are not a data controller or data processor under GDPR for your round data
3. Location data
PinX Golf requests access to your location ("When In Use") for two purposes:
- Live GPS distances during a round — your position is used in real-time to calculate distances to the front, center, and back of the green. This calculation happens entirely on-device.
- Finding courses near you — your coordinates are sent to the OpenStreetMap Overpass API to retrieve nearby golf courses. Only your approximate coordinates are transmitted to this public API; no identifying information accompanies the request.
Your location is never stored in the app's database, never transmitted to us, and never used for any purpose beyond these two features. You can deny location permission at any time in iOS Settings — the app remains fully functional for round entry and stats without it.
4. Payment data
Pro subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple acts as the merchant of record. We never see, receive, or store your payment details, credit card information, or billing address. Apple's handling of payment data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
5. Crash reports and analytics
If you have opted into Apple's crash reporting and analytics on your device (via iOS Settings → Privacy → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may collect anonymised crash logs and usage data from PinX Golf and share them with us through Xcode Organizer. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your device settings — we do not have a separate analytics SDK in the app.
6. Data export
Pro users can export all their round data as a JSON or CSV file using the Data Export feature in Settings. This file is created on-device and shared using the iOS share sheet — it goes wherever you choose to send it. We have no involvement in or visibility of exported data.
7. Children
PinX Golf is rated 4+ on the App Store. The app does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children. As we collect no data at all, there are no special provisions required.
8. GDPR
Because PinX Golf does not process personal data (all data stays on your device), we do not act as a data controller or processor under the General Data Protection Regulation. There is no data to access, correct, or delete through us. If you wish to delete your data, use the "Clear All Data" option in Settings, which permanently removes everything from your device.
9. Third-party services
PinX Golf connects to the following external services:
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim / Overpass API — for course search and GPS coordinate import. Requests include your search query or approximate location. These are public APIs governed by the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store / StoreKit — for subscription management. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
No advertising networks, tracking SDKs, or analytics platforms are included in the app.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify users through an app update. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
